Grafted In: Brought Near to the Covenants of Promise

Through the blood of Yeshua, we who were once far away have been brought near. Ephesians 2:11–18 reminds Gentile believers that they were formerly separated from Messiah, alienated from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers to the covenants of promise. Through Yeshua, they now share access to the Father by the same Holy Spirit.

Paul continues in Ephesians 2:19 by declaring that we are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God. We have been welcomed into His covenant family.

Romans 11 helps us understand this relationship through the picture of an olive tree. Paul describes Gentile believers as branches from a wild olive tree, grafted among the natural branches to share in the nourishment of the cultivated tree’s root.

We are grafted into Israel’s covenant olive tree through faith in Israel’s Messiah. We share in the blessings rooted in Yehovah’s promises to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Our inclusion calls us to gratitude and humility: the root supports us, and Paul warns us against boasting over the natural branches.

The Promise to Father Abraham

In Genesis 12:1–3, Yehovah called Abraham and promised that all the families of the earth would be blessed through him. From the beginning, His promise reached toward the nations.

Galatians 3:8 explains that this promise anticipated the good news reaching the Gentiles. Galatians 3:16 identifies Messiah as the promised Seed, and verse 29 declares that those who belong to Messiah are Abraham’s offspring and heirs according to the promise.

Through Yeshua, we become partakers of the blessing promised to father Abraham. This spiritual inheritance brings us into Yehovah’s family without changing our ancestry or erasing His faithfulness to the Jewish people.

One New Man in Messiah

Ephesians 2 reveals that Yeshua Himself is our peace. Through His sacrifice, Jewish and Gentile believers are reconciled to Yehovah in one body. The hostility that separated them is overcome through the cross.

Together, we are being built into a dwelling place for Yehovah by His Spirit, as Ephesians 2:19–22 describes.

Our unity is founded upon Israel’s Messiah, His redeeming blood, and the Spirit who gives us access to the Father.

Worshiping in Spirit and Truth

When Yeshua spoke with the Samaritan woman in John 4:21–24, He affirmed that salvation comes from the Jews and announced that the Father seeks worshipers who worship Him in spirit and truth.

These truths belong together. We honor the people and covenant history through whom Yehovah brought His promises to fulfillment, and we draw near to Him through Yeshua wherever we live.

Being grafted in invites us to understand the whole story of Scripture—from Abraham and the covenants of promise to Messiah and the gathering of the nations.

As we study Sabbath, the appointed feasts, and the Hebrew foundations of our faith, we do so as people already brought near by His blood. Our study becomes a response of love, gratitude, and a desire to know our Father more deeply.

We were once strangers. Through Yeshua, we have been welcomed.

We were once far away. Through His blood, we have been brought near.

We belong to Messiah, and in Him we are heirs according to the promise.
